Fall is here

OK, I have to finally admit it, fall is here. My garden has officially been dead for weeks, my flowers are mere dead sticks in the beds, the leaves are off my trees, so it appears that fall is here.
Am I the only one that can't bear to have it happen? I love the warm weather, the strolling in the yard barefoot, windows wide open to smell the freshly cut grass, picking tomatoes that actually taste like a tomato, cutting flowers, pulling weeds.... Fall on the other hand means dead plants, locating the ice scraper in the frightening under seat storage area (no I don't put it there, it just migrates there with all the other crap), closing the windows only to realize I better get the carpet cleaned or we will die soon, eating tomatoes that look right, feel right, and taste like the plastic bag they travel home in.
Fall, yuck. Never liked it, except for the beautiful tree colors that last such a short time here. Then there is the crazy Thanksgiving holiday to look forward to, you know, be thankful you have a house full of people to cook for, clean up after, slave over the hot stove for hours only to learn they ate all the dark meat! Pumpkin pie is the only motivation for me to even get up that day! Turkey is only useful for cold sandwiches the next day. And the next, and the next, etc. So yeah, I'm thankful for my wonderful family I see occasionally, two great kids that may just grow up to be decent humans one of these days, a hubby that spoils me rotten even though he has selective hearing for the "honey do list", good health, a to-die-for-best-friend, and pumpkin pie.
So, go ahead fall and just barrel on in here because I know you won't last forever!
